Atlanta rapper T.I. and his wife Tiny recently celebrated the opening of their first affordable housing development, the Intrada Westside complex. The development includes 143 apartments and 25 units for homeless youth.
T.I. and Tiny partnered with the Missouri-based Vecino Group to create the 100% affordable housing community. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on November 14, 2023 and included Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens.
The property was once a shopping center where T.I.'s grandmother used to shop.
“I’m going to tell y’all a secret,” he said, per the outlet. “Don’t tell nobody. I got caught stealing from this Kmart. I thought that, you know, just to offset the shame that came with that, it would behoove me to invest in the community by acquiring these properties.”
The development is located in the Intrada building on Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway in northwest Atlanta. Rents for the apartments will range from $400 to $900 per month, and the units for homeless youth will be available at no charge.
The complex is equipped with a variety of amenities, including a fitness center, a computer lab, and a playground. There will also be on-site staff to provide support to residents.
T.I. and Tiny have said that they were inspired to create the affordable housing complex because they wanted to give back to the community. They have both experienced homelessness in the past, and they want to help others who are facing the same challenges.
The Intrada Westside complex is a much-needed addition to the Atlanta area. It will provide affordable housing to people who need it most.
